Cool Woman of the Month

There's a lot of cool women out there. This is where you can read about them.

This month's woman is Wanda Sykes! She is considered to be one of the funniest stand-up comics today. Not only is she funny, but she's smart too! She went to Hampton University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Her stand-up career started at a Coors Light Super Talent Showcase in Washington D.C. where she performed in front of a live audience for the first time. She has been performing ever since.

She spent five years on the critically acclaimed "Chris Rock Show." Not only was she a performer for the show, but she wrote material for it too. Because of her efforts, she was nominated for three primetime emmy awards and in 1999 won an Emmy for "Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Special." In 2001 she won the American Comedy Award for "Outstanding Funniest Female Stand-Up Comic."

She also wrote for "MTV's 1999 Music Video Awards," "The 74th Annual Academy Awards," and "The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show". Last spring her one-hour comedy special, "Wanda Sykes: Tongue Untied" premiered on cable. She also aired a show on the FOX network called "Wanda At Large."

Wanda is definitely a very smart and funny woman who is, no doubt, worthy of being looked up to.
